Romantic Wine Country Weekend

We booked a room at the Mariott in Solvang and drove through the most beautiful countryside to get there. We stopped at the cutest little country diner for brunch and I was absolutely infatuated with their home made raspberry jam, which I smothered all over my Danish pancakes (like normal pancakes but bigger and thinner). The hotel was hosting a quincenera so the whole place smelled of delicious Mexican food and we ran into the mariachi band as we were renting bicycles.

I haven't ridden a bike in years but luckily I managed to stay upright all day. We accidentally took a wrong turn and ended up biking MUCH farther than we had anticipated, but it was all good fun and an excellent work out! Plus, it gave us a chance to take in the local scenery; there were horse ranches and an ostrich farm, long lanes lined with giant trees and quaint little windmill buildings. We ended the day with wine tasting and a wine and cheese feast in our hotel room.

On the way home we pulled over in a giant field of flowers which was on a cliff over the ocean. We saw fog farther down the coast, thick and eerie, but the sun shone brightly on us all the way back home.

I don't often shoot nudes (full or partial) but lovely Rachel Kowals Dym (@arcadey on instagram and twitter) was so kind as to indulge me, posing with her beautiful collections of cacti and baubles. I have such a a respect for her self confidence and how she generally seems at peace in her own skin, such a rare thing. I cannot wait to shoot more with her!

The Dark Side of My Lips

Snapped these during a Tunnel Vision photoshoot this weekend. I'm usually on the other side of the camera but there was a bag of various lipsticks and I got talked into this one. I haven't worn black lipstick since...middle school? Maybe early high school? Angsty goth phase. Anyway I kind of loved how it looked so I snapped a couple selfies. I'm kind of into lipsticks right now, you'll probably see me experimenting with more bold colors in the near future.

All the flowers are blooming, I'm so inspired. I made a wreath from flowers in our garden and ran barefoot in the cool grass the sun set.
